The Blue Connect device is designed to optimize battery usage, but there are steps you can take to ensure you're getting the most out of it. Here’s how you can effectively reduce battery consumption:

Key Tips to Save Battery Life:

  1. Limit Bluetooth Measurements

    • Description: Bluetooth measurements can quickly drain the battery when taken too frequently. Reducing the number of Bluetooth measurements will help conserve battery power.
    • Action: Limit the number of Bluetooth measurements. Taking them only when necessary can significantly extend the battery life of your Blue Connect device.
  2. Update the Firmware

    • Description: Outdated firmware may cause inefficient battery use. Firmware updates often include optimizations to improve battery life.
    • Action: Regularly check for firmware updates and ensure the device runs the latest version. You can verify this in the app under the firmware configuration section.
  3. Restart the Device

    • Description: If the device consumes more battery than expected, restarting it may resolve temporary software issues causing excessive battery drain.
    • Action: Restart the device through the app to clear any errors that may impact battery performance.
  4. Check the Environment

    • Description: Environmental factors such as extreme temperatures and poor water flow can affect the device's battery life.
    • Action: Place the Blue Connect device in optimal conditions, away from extreme heat or cold, and in areas with good water circulation.
  5. Use Sigfox to Minimize Bluetooth Usage

    • Description: Sigfox communication is more energy-efficient than Bluetooth and can help extend battery life by reducing Bluetooth transmissions.
    • Action for Blue Connect Plus: Sigfox is enabled by default if you have a Blue Connect Plus with Sigfox coverage.
    • Action for Blue Connect GO: A subscription to Premium is needed to enable Sigfox for the Blue Connect GO. Consider subscribing to Premium to reduce battery consumption by minimizing Bluetooth usage.
